10/15/2014 - Group from Norway Visits All Saints Catholic Regional School

Will use first-hand experience to further develop Catholic schools in Norway

All Saints Catholic Regional School to Host Principals from Catholic Schools in Norway

Fr. Elias Carr and a group from All Saints Catholic Regional School in Glen Cove will be hosting the Principals from all four Catholic schools in Norway from Wednesday the 15th through Saturday the 18th of October. The schools will visit All Saints Catholic Regional School in Glen Cove and Fordham University while in New York. Their goal is to learn first-hand how Catholic schools operate in the United States, their unique position in American society, and what opportunities and challenges they encounter. The group hopes to use the information from their visit to further develop the Catholic schools in Norway.

Among the many issues the group from Norway hopes to review include: What is the school's relationship with the local church? Where do Catholic schools fit into the American school system? What kind of students apply to Catholic schools and how are the schools financed?  Additionally, the Norwegian contingent would like to learn how is the Catholic identity of the schools is supported and sustained as well as many questions on the recruitment, hiring, evaluation and professional and ideological development of teachers.
